Plants vs. Zombies Slot

Plants vs. Zombies Slot

When you first see the simple, almost comic-book graphics of this slot – it is hard to imagine the number of features and additions to the game play you are going to find. Blueprint Gaming have released several slots based on popular game franchises, with Worms and Peggle among their most popular. Plants vs Zombies is another slot that is based on a popular video game series.

You’ll be met by crazy Dave who appears from the side of the reels with a saucepan on his head to tell you gibberish – or announce that an on-reel feature is about to kick off. In addition to 4 different bonus games, you can win a progressive jackpot or a 20,000 coin windfall from regular play.

Smiling daisies in a garden setting look out at you from the sides of the reels, with a wooden fence and house in the background. The reels are set over a plain beige background, and the symbols on them – while nicely drawn – are graphically very simple. You’ll find several types of plant, a lot of playing card symbols (with a cracked stone look to them) and zombies, which make up the special symbols.

Setup and play for Plants vs. Zombies Slot

It is hard to see the win-lines from the frame of the reels, though fortunately one of the daisies help out by showing that this is a 20 line game. The only thing you’ll need to select is the size of your bet, which can range from 20p to £500 per spin. There is an auto-play for up to 50 spins a time too.

Zombie wilds have the biggest win, and it is a lot bigger than any of the others you’ll get from regular play. Line up 5 of these on a win-line and you will get 20,000 times your coin amount. 4 win you 1000 coins, 3 for 100 coins and a token payment of 2 coins for just 2. These symbols will also substitute for all of the regular symbols – though not the bonus or stacked ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ ones.

The logos are the next biggest paying symbol, and come stacked – so you’ll often see a lot of the reels covered in them. 5 will get you 500 coins, with 200 for 4 and pay-outs going down to 2. Keep in mind that you will often get several of these wins at the same time.

Purple plants with teeth are the next best symbols, at 200 coins for 5. The other plants are worth 250 for 5, with the playing cards propping up the pay table as usual.

An interesting on-reel feature sometimes gets announced by crazy Dave. This is the Wild Gargantuar, a huge zombie holding a telegraph pole. The entire set of reels shakes with his footsteps, and when he appears he bashes the bottom of 1 or more reels – turning them entirely wild. This can result in some decent wins, especially if you also have some of the regular wilds on the other reels.

Loads of Bonuses

To trigger the bonus games you’ll need a bonus symbol on reels 1 and 3 (these land with a thud) and a special symbol showing which bonus on reel 5. There are 4 possible bonus games.

The Cherry Bomb bonus is a free spins game. There is not a fixed number of spins, there are zombies at the bottom of the screen that will eventually eat your brains (ending the round). During the spins cherries will land on the reels (these will often be stacked). They explode to reveal mystery symbols. This can be the regular ones, or a tough looking chili pepper, which will destroy the zombies (extending your round). You might also get a golden plant, which awards the progressive jackpot.

If you hit the Zombie bonus you’ll go to a pick-em bonus game. You choose objects in the gardens (night and day) or on a roof. If you find crazy Dave you will go to the next level, if you get zombies then your game is over. Again, there is a chance to find the trophy for the progressive pot.

Zen garden gives you a chance of watering plants to collect prizes; while the Marigold cash bonus lets you water a plant to accumulate coins. You get to choose from 5 watering cans here. Both give you a shot at the progressive.

Plants vs. Zombies Slot – A Cracker of a Game

Even after a single (long!) session, I’m declaring this my new favourite slot. It combines humour with great game-play and plenty of different features. This would be a winning combination alone. With the addition of a progressive jackpot and 20,000 coin win from regular play, this slot is all but complete. I strongly recommend this one; check it out for yourself soon.
