Despite efforts to get legislation passed to introduce a total ban on indoor smoking at New Jersey casinos falling short and a judge dismissing a lawsuit last week regarding the same matter, workers in Atlantic City aren’t giving up.

Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects (CEASE) outlined on Wednesday its new digital ad campaign that will specifically target the districts of lawmakers who can potentially drive forward legislation.

will feature their children, who will talk about their worries about the health of their parents

The ad campaign is named “Kids of CEASE” and will feature their children, who will talk about their worries about the health of their parents who have to work in casinos where smoking is permitted on 25% of the gaming floor.

Employees believe that the secondhand smoke they inhale during shifts leads to significant long-term health issues. Nearly all other workplaces in the state prohibit indoor smoking, as per legislation enacted in 2006.

A smoking ban bill has been in the committee stage for more than a year, with Senator Joseph Vitale recently promising to push for a full Senate vote on the matter.
