Celtic was -225 favorite to win the Scottish Premiership before the 2024/2025 season began over the weekend. After just one game though, sportsbook Paddy Power has seen enough and paid out any outrights on Celtic as a winner.

Celtic won its first game against Kilmarnock 4-0, with goals from Reo Hatate, Liam Scales, Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn, and Anthony Ralston. Meanwhile, the team’s main rival and fellow Glasgow club Rangers failed to secure more than one point against Hearts in their respective opener.

Celtic won the 2023/24 season relatively comfortably, beating second place Rangers by eight points. Hearts finished third with 27 points less than Rangers, demonstrating the two teams’ domination of the league.

This isn’t the first time Paddy Power has paid out early on bets. In 2022, the sportsbook paid out on Liverpool English Premier League outright bets before the season even started after the reds beat Manchester City in the Community Shield. Notably, City ultimately won the league and Liverpool finished fifth.
