The Clark County Commission has officially approved construction permits for Las Vegas’ next frontier. If it becomes a reality, the Las Vegas Executive Airport will serve as a hub for private and commercial space travel located in the desert outside of Pahrump.

Las Vegas Locally shared the news on X:

The port, which will be situated 15 minutes west of the Las Vegas Strip by helicopter, will require $30m in funding in the initial phase. Robert Lauer, CEO of the project, deemed the Commission’s decision “a notable step forward in realizing the dream.”

The project’s website explains that it will feature various elements. “With a focus on accessibility and inclusivity, the spaceport will offer a range of services, including civilian space flight acclimation training, hangar space for space vehicles, and a post-high school STEM Academy equipped with advanced flight simulators,” the website reads.

It will also include a hotel, passenger terminal, and rooftop observation deck and restaurant. Groundbreaking will begin in three months if everything goes to plan. That said, Clark County explained to FOX5 that it only approved an airstrip in the initial vote on Wednesday.
