The Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company will follow in the footsteps of U2 by taking up a lengthy residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The band took to X on Wednesday to confirm the residency via the Grateful Dead ‘Steal Your Face’ logo projected onto The Sphere:

Despite playing their ‘final tour’ in 2023, Dead & Company are coming out of retirement to play at The Sphere. According to Rolling Stone, the group will perform “at least 15 shows” at the $2.3bn Vegas Strip arena, with the band and The Sphere still to confirm the exact dates.

The band, featuring Grateful Dead stars Bob Weir and Mickey Hart alongside John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane, will replace Irish rock band U2, whose jaw-dropping Sphere residency ends on February 18.

James Dolan was reportedly lining up a $10m move to land Beyoncé

Dead & Company’s residency will come as a blow to Beyoncé fans. In November, media reports suggested Sphere owner James Dolan was reportedly lining up a $10m move to land Beyoncé once U2’s run came to an end. Harry Styles was also heavily rumored to be in discussions.
