A birthday bash

Kick streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel was thrown out of a Canadian casino while celebrating his birthday, he revealed on X (formerly Twitter).

Lengyel said that he and his family went to a casino in Montreal with the intent to play table games. After arriving, security confronted him and “dragged” him out of the casino.

There isn’t much information available aside from Lenyel’s account. Footage of the incident has not been released, and the casino has not provided any public comment on what happened that day.

xQc banned at casino, throughout Canada

Lengyel is a popular online figure who moved from Twitch to Kick earlier this year in a $70m deal that can grow to $100m with add-ons. He streams a variety of content including online casino games.

he’d gambled more than $2.6bn on their platform as of last week

The streamer’s statistics on Stake, an online crypto-based casino platform, show that he’d gambled more than $2.6bn on their platform as of last week. That’s not only a ridiculous amount, but it’s more than a billion dollars more than it was when he showed his stats on September 20.

The reason Lengyel was thrown out of the real-life casino, according to his account, traces back to his endeavors as an online gambler.

“You guys just banned me,” Lengyel alleged he told the casino staff. “I’m here with my family, just chilling out. We’re just betting low amounts. And I’m getting banned from the whole place and you guys are like dragging me out.”

“Well, dude, basically, what happened in 2022, there was an article that came out about you, so our online systems banned you from playing online,” he claims the security told him.

The article in question

The article allegedly referenced by the casino staff was posted by Radio Canada and claims Lengyel admitted to having a gambling addiction. It also shared the story of Enneric Chabot, a Quebec resident and fan of Lengyel’s who claims his content inspired him to gamble and led to him developing a gambling addiction and later filing for bankruptcy.

“I tried to get help, but when you always see the streamers you listen to the most [betting money online], it makes you want to do the same,” said Chabot.

Canada takes the topic of gambling addiction very seriously, and the article served as a vessel to campaign for prohibiting Lengyel from gambling at local establishments.

I’m banned from everything that has chance in it in the entire state.”

“I’m banned from everything,” Lengyel said on his stream. “Banned from everything in the entire province. All the casinos. All online stuff. I can’t even buy a lottery ticket. I can’t do anything until it’s appealed. I’m banned from everything that has chance in it in the entire state.”

Lengyel, whose deal with Kick did not include a non-compete clause, reportedly makes an additional $3.4m per year through his Twitch channel before counting any sponsorship deals.?

The ban on gambling at Canadian establishments may be much ado about nothing. Another popular streamer, Adin Ross, recently claimed that Lengyel is moving to Miami soon, where Ross and many other big streamers reside.
