The World Series of Poker has announced that the nomination window is now open for the 2023 Poker Hall of Fame. Fans can head over to the WSOP’s website to fill out form; all that is required is your name and e-mail address, the nominee’s name, and the reason for nomination.

stood the test of time”

The criteria for the Poker Hall of Fame have remained largely the same for years, though as with any sports Hall of Fame, some of the criteria is subjective. To qualify for the Hall, a player must have played against “acknowledged top competition,” played for high stakes, played well and earned the respect of their peers, “stood the test of time,” and be at least 40 years old at the time of nomination.

Non-players are also eligible and must have “contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.”

The top ten nominees will be reviewed by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council to be sure they are eligible. It will then be up to the living members of the Hall to vote for the lone person to be inducted this year. The enshrinement ceremony will be held during the final table of the WSOP Main Event in mid-July.

The late Layne Flack was elected to the Poker Hall of Fame in 2022.
