Caesars has moved to monopolize digital sports betting in Maine after it inked a term sheet with three of the state’s four tribes who themselves have exclusivity over Maine’s legal digital and retail markets.

The deal gives Caesars three of the four digital skins allocated to the four tribes, a 75% monopoly of the state’s digital sports betting platforms, with just the Passamaquoddy yet to appoint a partner. As the first US operator to gain access to Maine’s digital sports betting market, it’s not yet clear how Caesars will approach its three skins access.

The sportsbook could go with one generic Caesars Sportsbook-branded betting platform for all three tribes, or could it could white label its platform under three different names. If it goes the generic route and because there’s another skin still up for grabs, it means bettors in Maine would have two digital sports betting platforms from which to choose. If Caesars white labels its skins into three standalone wagering platforms, Mainers will have four options.

In an email release, Caesars stated inking the “historic term sheet in Maine” was part of its long-term commitment to tribal gaming. The Nevada-based gaming giant added it was proud to be “the single mobile sports betting provider for three of the state’s tribes.”
