The Employee Emergency Grant Fund provides urgent relief to MGM Resorts workers who have been struggling to meet financial obligations amid the coronavirus pandemic. Many of the casino company’s employees have been furloughed and will potentially be laid off if the hardships continue.

Professional golfers John Daly, Butch Harmon, Michelle Wie, and Jimmy Walker will be among the Chipping All-In tourney participants.

Live donations, Q&A

The poker fundraiser will be presented by MGM Resorts and is being held in association with the World Poker Tour (WPT) and Loaded. Those watching the event via live stream will be able to make donations in real-time and receive personalized shout-outs during the stream.

The senior vice president for sports and sponsorships at MGM Resorts, Lance Evans, said: “Chipping All-In will feature some of the world’s top PGA and LPGA players as well as sports and media personalities playing in support of the Employee Emergency Grant Fund.”

The full line-up of players will be split into different tables, with the leading finishers then moving onto the final table. There will be live player audio throughout the tournament. A live Q&A with the participants will allow fans to interact directly with the stars of golf.

Helping those in need

Easter Saturday saw another online poker fundraiser take place among entertainment and sports stars and poker professionals. All In For Feeding America, hosted by Ben Affleck, raised $2m for hunger relief efforts across the United States.

The tournament had a $10,000 buy-in and participants included Matt Damon, Tom Brady, and Bryan Cranston. The overall winner was poker professional Ebony Kenney.
