Thousands Register for Sports Betting in New Hampshire

Successful launch

According to the New Hampshire Lottery, more than 6,000 people registered to bet on sports in New Hampshire on launch day. The lottery also confirmed that more than $250,000 has been wagered so far.

New Hampshire became just the second state in New England, after Rhode Island, to launch legal sports betting on December 30.

DraftKings deal

DraftKings is the sole provider of mobile sports betting in New Hampshire, where it has a six-year deal in place. This allows anyone who is at least 18 years old to place sports bets with the Boston-based DraftKings.?

New Hampshire will receive 51% of all sports betting revenue as part of this deal. Around $7.5m is expected to be generated for education in fiscal year 2021. By fiscal year 2023, this figure is expected to increase to $13.5m.

In addition to mobile sports betting, retail sportsbooks are set to follow. Eligible cities will vote on whether or not they want retail sportsbooks in their area. So far, voters in Somersworth, Manchester, Laconia, Franklin, Claremont, and Berlin have given their blessing.

Retail sportsbooks are expected to open at some stage in the first half of 2020.?
